We were engaged by the owner of a pine tree-fringed sloping site overlooking the Wamberal valley. A bushland ridge provides a stunning backdrop to the site. Our brief was to design and create a 3D animation for a contemporary executive residence flooded with natural light, a home that would do justice to the views and its beautiful natural setting.
The result was a bold three-storey home design featuring dramatic clean lines, abundant floor to ceiling glass to bathe the interior with natural light. There was also visual connectivity to the pool and the natural landscape from all angles. We used poetic licence to design a residence that is reminiscent of a luxury cruise liner, a ship floating over a sea of green anchored into the mountainside.
The large garage, pool area and expansive terraces blend seamlessly into the overall design achieving optimal connectivity and flow. Clean, angular lines and a balanced composition of light and texture, void and mass highlight a dedication to simplicity.
Material selection was kept intentionally subtle. Timber cladding and aluminium windows break the expanse of white rendered walls, while natural stone is specified extensively for the home’s exterior to engage the landscape and ensure the eyes are drawn to the house as the primary focus.
