Wamberal Coastal 1

We had the pleasure of preparing a concept design for a new family home with pool and multiple alfresco areas to be built on one of Wamberal’s most desirable coastal acreages. Overlooking the Wamberal valley and bordered by bushland with a picturesque mountainous backdrop to the west, the pine tree fringed, sun-drenched, gently sloping site presented us with an incredible blank canvas on which to bring our client’s vision to life. It was a site that was familiar to us, having designed Alkira Childcare Centre and a contemporary residence on the adjacent properties to either side.

Our client’s objective was to steer away from a modern contemporary design with skillion or flat roof seen in abundance on the Central Coast. Their vision was to create an elegant, timeless, natural light-filled home with a classic coastal look and feel that would blend harmoniously with the natural surrounding environment. They wanted their design to take cues from the quintessential Australian beach home without being locked into any particular style or era.

The home has been designed to optimise the northerly sunlight and natural environment while maximising privacy.

The exterior features a combination of hipped and gabled Colorbond roofing in a stunning basalt shade to complement the Weatherboard facade in a soft grey finish with crisp white accent trims. Elegant vertical battens within the gables are a reference to past styles prevalent in the area, while touches of natural stone sourced from local suppliers reference the modern coastal homes that have begun to infiltrate the coastline.

The interior is flooded with natural light and features classic, soaring, fresh white panelled ceilings, a large bulkhead over the galley style kitchen, Newport hardwood floors and oak timber shaker style internal doors.

The bathrooms are luxurious and predominantly finished in classic neutral tones. The main bathroom features an elegant white freestanding bath, sheer frameless glass shower screen, floor to ceiling porcelain tiled walls. It has a striking yet simple wall hung timber vanity with two matching timber-framed mirrors in a spotted gum finish sourced from local supplier, and elegant porcelain floor tiles embossed with an antique pattern. We opted for tapware in aged brass to add a luxe, modern twist to the classic design.
