Initially, a project to design a luxury pool, the client fell in love with the design and the project blossomed from there.
We were asked to study how the internal planning of the house could be improved and decided that by converting the bedrooms on the lower level to one large open planned living / dining / kitchen space it would greatly improve the indoor / outdoor connectivity with the proposed pool and expansive deck located at that level. Thus creating the ideal entertaining area.
The client was unable to park a vehicle in the garage due to the steepness of the site. This required a re-design of the driveway connectivity with the dwelling. There was an opportunity to create an almost level grade driveway connecting to a carport on the mid-level rather than an unmanageable grade to an unusable existing garage on the lower level.
The mid-level became the main bedroom level with three bedrooms and a rumpus, each enjoying the use of deep balconies along the eastern facade overlooking the magnificent beachfront views.
The master bedroom on the upper floor was improved by enclosing the bathroom in a glass box creating a private ensuite.
To complete the project we provided conceptual modelling images exhibiting how the building's aesthetics could be improved to realise the client's inclination for a ‘Santorini’ styled modern home.
